AWARDS TYPE CERTIFICATE TO SUPERIOR AIR PARTS’ NEW 180-HORSEPOWER VANTAGE
ENGINE
Lakeland,
FL, (April 15, 2004) –– Today, during ceremonies
at EAA’s Sun ‘n Fun, the Federal Aviation Administration presented
Superior Air Parts, Inc. with a Type Certificate for the new Vantage Engine®.
Superior anticipates full production certification on this next-generation
180-horsepower, piston engine in the 4th quarter of 2004.
“This
is a very exciting time for everyone at Superior and the entire general
aviation industry,” said Charles “Chuck” Dedmon, Superior’s President
and CEO. “While the actual decision to obtain a T.C. on the Vantage Engine
was made in 1996, it is actually a development process that has spanned some
30-years. Every part that Superior has designed and produced has been a step
in the long and detailed process.”
“Superior’s
Vantage Engine may look like other horizontally-opposed, 180 horsepower,
four-cylinder engines but that’s where the resemblance ends. From the
camshaft to the valve covers, the Vantage Engine is an all-new design,”
explained Keith Blockus, Superior’s Senior Director of Engineering and
Product Development. “We hold all of the design data and will be
manufacturing all of the parts to the most stringent performance and quality
specifications in the general aviation industry.”
